RAFF
IT UP! - June - July - August, 2001
Are
your monthly/weekly meetings getting boring, does the group have less
to say and no ideas??? - why not 'RAFF Up' your meeting - below are a
few tips - give them a try!
- Make sure everyone knows everyone - name tags are a great idea.
- Pass out agendas as people come in or send them to everyone ahead
of time - it's always best to know what will be discussed
- Have a 'lite meal' or potluck 30 minutes before your scheduled
gathering time. Everyone will be relaxed and energized by the
time your meeting gets underway.
- Change your meeting to a gathering - it's all in how you
present it!!
- Go around the room and introduce yourselves (even if everyone knows
everyone) and say one thing about yourself - you can specify at the
beginning what the "one thing" is so everyone will be on
the same 'thought wave' - (ex. what is your favorite vegetable?)!
- Stick to your time line - if the meeting is to be 1 hour make sure
it is - time is precious.
- Don't dwell on the details - that's what subcommittees are for!
- End your meeting knowing when the next one will be - scheduling
conflicts can be handled easier when everyone is still around the
table.
- Get those minutes out quickly - so people are reminded of what was
said, what they need to do before the next gathering, and what others
will be doing.
- Change your "gathering" place - new rooms bring new ideas!
- Just think of the ideas coming from those picnic tables in the park!!
Do these
folks look like they are settling in for an hour and a half meeting? - Amazing
what a little food and mingling will do!!
