RAFF
IT UP! - Ideas for April, 2000.
Relationships
- Activity of the Month -
- Who or what am
I?
Place a sticky tag on the back of everyone as they arrive at the event/gathering.
They then will have to guess who or what they are by asking others only
yes or no questions. For example, the tag could be a person or a place
that is well know in the community. Once they guess who or what they
are, they take their tag off and go and place it on a sheet posted on
the wall, and write their name beside it.
Action -
this month's RAFF action idea is:
- The Potluck
"Supper and a few good laughs" is the motto of the Queen Alex
Community Knowledge and Skills Sharing (QUACKSS) group in Edmonton.
They get together monthly to share their pot luck wares. It is a fun
way to meet people - and the food is always great! Sometimes the best
ideas and the most successful community building initiatives are sparked
by a group sharing food and a few good laughs - such as a the QUACKSS
annual events: Christmas Caroling in the neighbourhood, the Spring Cleaning
and Greening, and the Community Garage Sale.
Food -
This Month's RAFF Recipe -
- Everybody's Favourite Spinach Dip
Easy to make and
great for sharing, the dip requires only about 10 minutes to prepare.
Ingredients:
1 round loaf of bread
1 loaf of French bread
1 c mayo
2 c sour cream
1 package of Knorr's vegetable soup mix
1 pkg chopped frozen spinach
Combine mayonnaise,
sour cream, soup mix, and spinach in a bowl. Let stand for as long as
you can resist the temptation in order to let the flavours mix. Hollow
out the round loaf of bread and pour in the dip. Dice the bread removed
from the round loaf into bite-sized dipping pieces. Serve! Chop the loaf
of French bread into bite-sized pieces as needed.
Fun
- Fun is an essential element, and it's important that the environment
is there so that people can create their own fun.
