Pioneers Of Hope and Resources - WE-COPE "where people come together to hope, share, and vision"

1996 [Actual summary letter sent to all participants]

Thanks to all who volunteered and participated in the capacity study! The results gathered were outstanding and reaffirm that every individual has "gifts".

What Was The Survey Completed?
It was completed for several reasons. First, to discover the potential of WE-COPE Board members and to build on them. Second, to convince future members that each single person has talents regardless of their financial or social background. Third, to promote job and volunteer opportunities. Last, to provide WE-COPE with individual and business/association/organization questionnaires, a written report and report summary, an asset map, and a "WE-COPE" database for future use.

Who Was Responsible For Conducting The Survey?
WE-COPE and CBR (then the Community Development office(CD), Caritas Health Group) formed a partnership to complete this project. Lian Chew from CD and Toni Montgomery, Cindy Stothard, and Gail Duhamel of WE-COPE conducted the individual surveys with WE-COPE executives.

What Were The Results?
All WE-COPE executives have diverse and unique skills and talents! Seven Board members were interviewed. Here is a sample of the skills they said they were willing to share. These are:

  • childcare
  • personal care for the elderly, the sick, and the physically, mentally, or developmentally challenged
  • serving food, clearing and setting tables, and washing dishes
  • food preparation, baking, and meal planning
  • meat cutting and commercial food equipment operation
  • farming
  • indoor and outdoor gardening
  • professional/wellness training and experience
  • non-professional/wellness training and experience
  • transportation
  • home improvement and maintenance

What's Next?
Each committee members has a wide range of skills and capabilities. In fact, all 7 of the executives interviewed indicated that they are willing to share and link their skills and talents with other individuals. Below is a map of their skills and capabilities.
