Jasper Place Gateway Foundation - Edmonton, Alberta - Canada

Getting Involved and Having Fun! was how great changes began to happen in the Jasper Place area! The Jasper Place Gateway Foundation (JPGF) was formally incorporated in May, 1997. The Jasper Place Gateway Foundation urges everyone to get involved, have a say, and come and be part the Foundation's efforts to encourage positive change in the community and the businesses. The communities of Glenwood, Canora, Britannia, Grovenor, Crestwood and West Jasper Place Sherwood are in this area, which is between 142nd and 170th Streets, and 95th and 107th Avenues in Edmonton Alberta.

The objectives of the Foundation are:

  1. to promote the Jasper Place Gateway Foundation area as a preferable area to live and do business
  2. to promote and foster a good relationship between the citizens and businesses in the area
  3. to improve the physical environment of the area
  4. to promote and encourage community events in the area
  5. to involve, support, and assist citizens, and businesses to accomplish positive change in the area
  6. to raise funds to assist the foundation in achieving its objectives JPGF committees include:

JPGF has been or are currently involved with many fun adventures:

  • The annual Dirtbuster Derby - Neighbourhood Clean-up in the spring
  • Gateway Goldrush (a Klondike Days parade and party in July)
  • Pastels On Pavement (a fun family day that allows kids of all ages to show their creativity and imagination in the form of chalk drawings - in August)
  • Halloween Alley (a community Halloween Street - in October)
  • Grey Cup Western Hoedown (a Grey Cup celebration that happening during the 1997 Grey Cup that was hosted by Edmonton)
  • Christmas decorations - including a new tree in Butler Park and light standard decorations
  • A street bash held to celebrate new paving and sidewalks on 100A Avenue
  • An avid history group

We welcome all; community groups, citizens and businesses. The group is looking for all kinds of assistance and participation: time, office supplies, creative ideas, financial, marketing and public relations expertise. Please join in. Come and meet new people and be part of this dynamic group doing exciting things in the Jasper Place area.
