Oliver Community League - Edmonton, Alberta - Canada

CBR continues to work as a resource with the Oliver Community League. The community has a Community Outreach position in their executive council. This person put together a team which began a project to build upon the connections made during the Oliver Capacity Study, and facilitate further connections. The team developed a resource booklet (using funding from Health & Environment Canada's Community Animation Project), which was shared with citizens, local businesses and associations in Oliver. The team also created their own vision in 1997 and received a major grant to assist them in writing a history book for the Oliver area - due out in September, 1998. Oliver has since revisited their 1997 vision in the spring of 1998 and have been a key partner in setting up a Community Garden and celebrating their 75 year history.

Please note: We now use the words Community Capacity Building and Asset Mapping©, and the Steps To Capacity Success© because communities told us the words Capacity Study were not friendly and did not express the flexibility and creativity of Community Building work.
