A Proposal Writing Workshop

CBR has extensive experience supporting not-for-profit organizations, geographic communities, businesses, and many other groups in developing proposals.

This is a hands-on, four hour workshop for writing effective funding proposals. Topics include: how to review the paper for Request for Proposal (RFP's), proposal opportunities today, partners and coalitions, components of a proposal, the Do's and Don'ts of effective proposal writing, and why proposals might not be successful. Participants should bring their ideas for proposals they want to write. It's fun, it's hard work and it makes you do it!!

1. Introduction

  • Opportunities today and suggestions for partners, coalitions and alliances

2. Key Questions

  • Who is the funding agency, whom do you represent, where to start

3. Components of a Proposal - Walking through it -
The 4 "C"s

  • Summary of proposal
  • Introduction - your credentials and whom you represent - plans for collaborating/partners in the proposal, letters of support
  • Objectives, methods/design - timeline
  • Evaluation - how do you know you did what you said you would?
  • Dissemination - communication and the feedback loop
  • Budgets, tables and charts, appendices, format - fancy graphics

4. What do you do when you cannot see a fit between the RFP and your work?

  • Critique of other proposals

5. Conclusions, Questions and Evaluation

The Cost:

  • The cost of this workshop is $100.00 per person or
  • $750.00 for groups of 15 - 20 people
  • A binder is also provided to each participant at an additional cost of $10.00.

The cost is negotiable and we can provide assistance in finding funding.
